Next Vaccine Code Set Update Planned Publication: Week of May 11, 2020
Pre-Release notification: The Immunization Information System Support Branch (IISSB) is planning to release an updated set of vaccine code sets during the week of May 11. Due to the ongoing Novel Coronavirus outbreak response the publication date may be adjusted to the following week if necessary.
Access to the Vaccine Code Sets: The updated code sets will be available on the
CDC’s website and to registered users of the CDC’s Vaccine Code Set Management Service (VCSMS). Registered users of VCSMS may directly import the codes into their organization’s system by accessing the CDC Content Cloud. For more information on VCSMS, email the IIS Info Mailbox at

Release Schedule: IISSB provides updates to its vaccine code sets every odd-numbered month – i.e. March, May, July, September, and November. However, updates may occur more frequently during times of enhanced need, such as when there are new vaccines for the flu season. If there are no updates in a scheduled release month, a notification will be provided.

The following updates are in process and will be included in the next release of the vaccine code sets. Details of the changes will be provided in the release notes that accompany the vaccine code set release. - CVX code 200, “influenza, seasonal, Southern Hemisphere, quadrivalent, pediatric 0.25mL dose, preservative free”
- CVX code 201, “influenza, seasonal, Southern Hemisphere, quadrivalent, 0.5mL dose, no preservative”
- CVX code 202, “influenza, seasonal, Southern Hemisphere, quadrivalent, 0.5mL dose, with preservative”
- NDC Unit of Sale and Unit of Use Code Updates:
- Four new NDC pairs have been added:
