Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report

CDC’s latest FluView report (Mar 8 – 14) shows the level of lab-confirmed flu is still elevated, but is decreasing, while the amount of people seeking care for flu-like illness is increasing. This could be due to more people with respiratory symptoms seeking care, possibly because of COVID-19. CDC is working to modify existing flu and other surveillance systems to monitor COVID-19.

Antiviral drugs are an important treatment option for children with suspected or confirmed flu. Flu symptoms may include fever, headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose and muscle aches. Some children with flu will not have a fever. Your child’s health care provider can help decide whether your child should take antiviral drugs if they become sick with flu.
