Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report According to CDC’s latest FluView report (Jan 19 - 25), national levels of flu-like illness remain high and are expected to remain elevated for weeks to come. CDC estimates that so far this season, there have been at least 19 million flu illnesses, 180,000 hospitalizations and 10,000 deaths from flu. Children younger than 5 years old – and especially those younger than 2 – are at high risk of developing serious flu-related complications. Flu vaccination can be life-saving in children. If you get sick with flu symptoms, in most cases, you should stay home and avoid contact with other people except to get medical care.
