The figure shows the words, “Read CDC’s Latest Update on lung injury associated with e-cigarette use, or vaping” over a purple background containing e-cigarette products.

As of September 24, 2019, 46 state health department and one territorial health department had reported 805 patients with cases of lung injury associated with use of e-cigarette, or vaping, products to CDC.

Cases of severe lung injury in previously healthy persons who reported electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use, or vaping, have been under investigation in Wisconsin and Illinois.

While this investigation is ongoing, CDC recommends that persons consider refraining from using e-cigarette, or vaping, products, particularly those containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
