Chapter 1 Diphtheria has been updated to reflect the CSTE revised case definition for diphtheria (that went into effect on January 1, 2019), which now defines cases by confirmation of toxin-producing Corynebacterium diphtheriae regardless of anatomical site of origin. The chapter also provides updated guidance for case and close contact investigations.” |
