Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report

CDC's Influenza Division produces a weekly influenza surveillance report, FluView. According to this week's report (March 24-30), seasonal flu activity decreased in the United States, but remains elevated. 33 states and Puerto Rico are reporting widespread flu activity. CDC estimates that flu has caused as many as 38.1 million flu illnesses, 549,000 hospitalizations and 50,900 deaths so far this season.

After some delay, members of the World Health Organization (WHO) and FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) concluded their recommendations for the 2019-2020 northern hemisphere seasonal influenza vaccine.
