Use of Personal Hearing Protection Devices at Loud Athletic or Entertainment Events Among Adults — United States, 2018

CDC’s MMWR and Medscape are proud to introduce a new FREE continuing education (CE) activity. The goal is to describe hearing protection device (HPD) use at sporting events and entertainment by U.S. adults, associated factors, and potential preventive measures to reduce noise-related hearing loss. A CDC survey report is the basis for this activity.

Free CE activity from MMWR and Medscape: Use of Personal Hearing Protection Devices at Loud Athletic or Entertainment Events Among Adults — United States, 2018. This activity is intended for family medicine practitioners, geriatric medicine practitioners, neurologists, nurses, obstetricians, gynecologists, pharmacists, public health officials, and other clinicians caring for persons who experience excessive sound exposure and might benefit from hearing protection.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to

  1. describe HPD use and factors associated with HPD use by U.S. adults attending sporting and entertainment events,
  2. determine noise exposure associated with sporting and entertainment events and risks associated with noise exposure, and
  3. explain preventive measures and other recommendations to prevent noise-related hearing loss, according to a CDC survey report.

To access this free MMWR/Medscape CE activity, visit https://www.medscape.org/viewarticle/906650. If you are not a registered user on Medscape, register for free or login without a password and get unlimited access to all CE activities and other Medscape features.
