Prevention of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis with Vaccines

CDC’s MMWR and Medscape are proud to introduce a new FREE continuing education (CE) activity that describes current recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) regarding prevention and control of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis in the United States, based on a comprehensive summary of previously published recommendations.

The figure above is an official graphic of a young girl receiving a tetanus vaccine with the CDC and MMWR logos and text that reads: New Free Continuing Education from MMWR and Medscape. This activity is intended for public health officials, family medicine practitioners, infectious disease clinicians, nurses, obstetrician-gynecologists, pediatricians, pharmacists, and other clinicians caring for patients in whom vaccination against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis may be indicated.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will

  1. Describe recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) regarding vaccination of infants and children in the United States against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis, based on a comprehensive summary of previously published recommendations
  2. Identify ACIP recommendations regarding vaccination of adults in the United States against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis
  3. Discuss ACIP recommendations regarding precautions and use in special populations for vaccination against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis
