Prevention of Hepatitis B Virus Infection in the United States:
Recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices

CDC’s MMWR and Medscape are proud to introduce a new FREE continuing education (CE) activity that describes recommendations regarding prevention of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in the United States, based on updated guidance from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

This activity is intended for infectious disease specialists, family medicine specialists, gastroenterologists, internists, nephrologists, obstetrician-gynecologists, pediatricians, public health officials, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians caring for patients with or at risk for HBV infection.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to

  1. Discuss new or updated recommendations regarding prevention of HBV infection in the United States, based on updated guidance from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)
  2. Identify previously issued ACIP recommendations regarding prevention of HBV infection in the United States, including recommendations for HBV vaccination of infants, children, and adolescents
  3. Describe ACIP/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for HBV prophylaxis after occupational and nonoccupational exposures
