Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report
CDC's Influenza Division produces a weekly influenza surveillance report, FluView. According to this week's report (Dec 31- Jan 6), seasonal influenza activity increased in the United States. New York City and 26 states experienced high Influenza Like Illness (ILI) activity levels. Puerto Rico and ten states experienced moderate ILI activity.

Flu-Free, Healthy Travel this Winter
Whether traveling to warmer weather or a snow-filled adventure, make sure flu is not your travel companion. It takes about 2 weeks for flu vaccine to provide protection, so get vaccinated well before your trip to reduce your risk of catching and spreading flu.

Caring for Someone Sick
When caring for people who have flu, avoid face-to-face contact if possible. If the person you are caring for is at high-risk for flu-related complications and gets very sick, call their doctor. They may need antiviral drugs to treat flu.
