Zika Virus Among Pregnant Women and Community Members — U.S. Virgin Islands,
November–December 2016 In January 2016, USVI Department of Health (USVI DOH) initiated
Zika response measures, including surveillance, vector control, and a
communications program. Interventions included education and outreach,
distribution of Zika prevention kits to
pregnant women in the USVI, and provision of free Zika virus laboratory testing
and vector control services. In November 2016, USVI DOH staff members conducted
interviews with convenience samples of community members and pregnant women to
gather feedback about current and proposed interventions.
National,
Regional, State, and Selected Local Area Vaccination Coverage Among Adolescents
Aged 13–17 Years — United States, 2016 To estimate adolescent vaccination coverage in the United
States, CDC analyzed data from the 2016 National Immunization Survey–Teen for
20,475 adolescents aged 13–17 years. HPV up-to-date estimates were 49.5% for
females and 37.5% for males and 6.0–6.5 percentage points higher than ≥3-dose
adolescent HPV coverage.
Overdose Deaths Related to Fentanyl and
Its Analogs — Ohio, January–February 2017 The Wright
State University and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office/Miami Valley
Regional Crime Laboratory collaborated on a National Institutes of Health study
of fentanyl analogs and metabolites and other drugs identified in 281
unintentional overdose fatalities in 24 Ohio counties during January–February
2017.

Brief provides the most recent estimates of antidepressant use in the U.S.
noninstitutionalized population, including prevalence of use by age, sex, race
and Hispanic origin, and length of use. Overall and in each age group, females
were about twice as likely as males to take antidepressant medication.
Lupus among Asians and Hispanics Lupus is an
autoimmune disease that triggers inflammation in different tissues of the body.
The severity of lupus can range from mild to life threatening. According to
recent studies supported by CDC, Asian women and Hispanic women are more likely
to be affected by the disease compared with white women.

Genetic Testing and Receipt of Preventive Interventions Among Women Aged 18–64
Years with Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance in Nonmetropolitan and
Metropolitan Areas — United States, 2009–2014
Genetic testing for breast cancer 1 (BRCA1)
and breast cancer 2 (BRCA2) gene mutations can identify women at increased risk
for breast and ovarian cancer, and the results can be used to select preventive
interventions and guide treatment. Medical claims data were used to estimate
rates of BRCA
testing and receipt of preventive interventions after BRCA
testing among women aged 18–64 years with employer-sponsored health insurance
in metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas of the United States, nationally and
regionally.
Increasing Awareness of Gynecologic Cancer Risks and Symptoms among Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Women in the US-Associated Pacific Island Jurisdictions In this study, Inside Knowledge educational materials were obtained from the CDC website and used in facilitated educational sessions. Sessions were planned according to leading health education theories, and were implemented and led by local Yap public health practitioners. Pre- and post-session surveys were used to assess changes in gynecologic cancer awareness, confidence and behavioral intentions related to prevention/early detection for gynecologic cancer.
