New FREE Continuing Education from Medscape and MMWR: Identifying Cryptosporidium in Recreational Water

Boy in pool CDC’s MMWR in partnership with Medscape is proud to introduce a new FREE continuing education (CE) activity on identifying Cryptosporidium in recreational water. Continuing Medical Education (CME), American Board of Internal Medicine Maintenance of Certification (ABIM MOC), and Continuing Education (CE) credits are all available for this activity: Using Molecular Characterization to Support Investigations of Aquatic Facility–Associated Outbreaks of Cryptosporidiosis — Alabama, Arizona, and Ohio, 2016. This activity is intended for infectious disease clinicians, gastroenterologists, internal medicine practitioners, family medicine practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, public health officials, and other clinicians who treat and manage patients with or at risk for Cryptosporidium infection.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Compare recent US cryptosporidiosis epidemiology and outbreaks, based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention surveillance
  2. Evaluate use of CryptoNet as an epidemiological tool for analysis of recent US cryptosporidiosis outbreaks, based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention surveillance
  3. Analyze public health implications of these findings from recent US cryptosporidiosis outbreaks, based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention surveillance
