Deaths
from Alzheimer’s Disease — United States, 1999–2014
To
examine deaths with Alzheimer’s as the underlying cause, state-level and
county-level death certificate data from the National Vital Statistics System
for the period 1999–2014 were analyzed. Age-adjusted rates of Alzheimer’s
mortality significantly increased in 41 states and the District of Columbia
from 1999 to 2014.

Prevalence
of Arthritis and Arthritis-Attributable Activity Limitation by Urban-Rural
County Classification — United States, 2015
To
estimate the prevalence of arthritis and AAAL by urban-rural categories CDC
analyzed data from the 2015 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. The
unadjusted prevalence of arthritis in the most rural areas was 31.8% and in the
most urban, was 20.5%.
Maternal
Depression
As many as 1 in 9 women
experience depression before, during, or after pregnancy. Depression is common
and treatable. If you think you have depression, seek treatment from your
health care provider as soon as possible.
Does Osteoporosis Run in Your Family?
Osteoporosis is more
common in women. It affects about 25% (1 in 4) of women aged 65 and over and
about 6% (1 in 17) of men aged 65 and over. Many people with osteoporosis do
not know they have it until they break a bone. Screening is important to find
these people before this happens, so they can take steps to decrease the
effects of osteoporosis.

HIV-discordant couples, in which the male is HIV-infected and the female is

Outcomes After Maternal Zika Virus Infection During Pregnancy — U.S.
Territories, January 1, 2016–April 25, 2017
To collect information about pregnant women with
laboratory evidence of recent possible Zika virus infection* and outcomes in
their fetuses and infants, CDC established pregnancy and infant registries.
During January 1, 2016–April 25, 2017, U.S. territories† with local transmission of Zika
virus reported 2,549 completed pregnancies§ (live births and pregnancy losses at any gestational age) with
laboratory evidence of recent possible Zika virus infection; 5% of fetuses or
infants resulting from these pregnancies had birth defects potentially
associated with Zika virus infection.
