Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report
The CDC Influenza Division collects, compiles, and analyzes information on Influenza activity year-round in the US and produces FluView, a weekly influenza surveillance report. During week 20, ending May 20, flu activity decreased. While the 2016-2017 flu season has peaked, Arizona reported low influenza-like illness activity.

H7N9 in China - Update
Earlier this week, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported another 23 human infections with Asian H7N9 bird flu, bringing the total number of infections during the current (fifth) epidemic to 688. This is the largest epidemic of H7N9 human infections in China since 2013.

What CDC Does About Avian Flu
CDC works to improve global control and prevention of seasonal and novel influenza, including avian influenza (bird flu) viruses, and works to improve influenza pandemic preparedness and response. CDC’s Influenza Division [122 KB, 2 pages] collaborates with domestic and global partners to prevent and respond to bird flu.
