Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report

The CDC Influenza Division collects, compiles, and analyzes information on influenza activity year-round in the U.S. and produces FluView, a weekly influenza surveillance report. During week 6, ending February 11, the geographic spread of influenza in Puerto Rico and 46 states was reported as widespread.

​​​​Influenza activity – dominated by influenza A H3N2 viruses – continues to increase in the United States and is widespread across most of the country. ​​​​​​Studies indicate that avian influenza (H7N9) viruses, like seasonal influenza viruses, have a seasonal pattern: they circulate at higher levels in cold weather and at lower levels in warm weather.
