Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report

The CDC Influenza Division collects, compiles, and analyzes information on influenza activity year-round in the US and produces FluView, a weekly influenza surveillance report. During week 3, ending January 21, the geographic spread of influenza in Puerto Rico and 37 states was reported as widespread; Guam and 12 states reported regional activity; the District of Columbia and one state reported local activity.

H7N9 Cases Surge in China

​​There has been an increase in human infections with a low pathogenic avian influenza A H7N9 virus in China. Since September 2016, more than 120 new human infections with this virus have been reported. Read more in CDC’s latest "Avian Flu (H7N9) in China" travel notice.
