The first recognized outbreak of locally transmitted mosquito-borne Zika virus infection in the continental United States occurred in Miami-Dade County, Florida, during June–August 2016. Twenty-nine persons had Zika virus infection, most within an approximate 6-block area. The outbreak ended after aerial spraying to control mosquitoes. No increases in short-term health effects were associated with spraying.
