Interim Guidance for Interpretation of Zika Virus Antibody Test Results Ingrid B. Rabe, MBChB; J. Erin Staples, MD, PhD; Julie Villanueva, PhD; et al. MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 2016;65(Early Release)
A positive real-time reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction result confirms Zika virus disease. However, a negative result does not exclude infection. Immunoglobulin M antibody tests, with confirmation of the results by plaque reduction neutralization tests, can identify recent infections. This report provides interim guidance for the interpretation of Zika virus antibody test results.
