Survey of Blood Collection Centers and Implementation of Guidance for Prevention of Transfusion-Transmitted Zika Virus Infection — Puerto Rico, 2016 Amber M. Vasquez, MD; Mathew R.P. Sapiano, PhD; Sridhar V. Basavaraju, MD; et al. MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 2016;65(Early Release): No blood transfusion-transmitted cases of Zika virus infection have been confirmed in Puerto Rico or the U.S. mainland. However, because a large percentage of persons infected with Zika virus are asymptomatic, the risk for transfusion-transmitted Zika virus infection in Puerto Rico and other areas of the United States and its territories is of concern. |
