Update: Interim Guidance for Health Care Providers Caring for Women of Reproductive Age with Possible Zika Virus Exposure — United States, 2016 CDC has updated its interim guidance for U.S. health care providers caring for women of reproductive age with possible Zika virus exposure to include recommendations on counseling women and men with possible Zika virus exposure who are interested in conceiving. Zika Virus Infection Among U.S. Pregnant Travelers — August 2015–February 2016 Among nine pregnant women with confirmed Zika virus disease, no hospitalizations or deaths were reported. All nine women reported at least one of the four most commonly observed symptoms (fever, rash, conjunctivitis, or arthralgia), all women reported rash, and all but one woman had at least two symptoms. Contraceptive Needs and Increasing Access to Contraception in Response to the
Zika Virus Disease Outbreak — Puerto Rico, 2016
As of March 16, 2016, the highest number of Zika virus disease
cases in the United States and U.S. territories were reported from Puerto
Rico. Increasing evidence links Zika virus infection during pregnancy to
adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes.
Update:
Interim Guidance for Prevention of Sexual Transmission of Zika Virus — United
States, 2016
CDC issued interim guidance for the prevention of sexual
transmission of Zika virus on February 5, 2016. The following recommendations
apply to men who have traveled to or reside in areas with active Zika virus
transmission and their female or male sex partners.
Transmission
of Zika Virus Through Sexual Contact with Travelers to Areas of Ongoing
Transmission — Continental United States, 2016 During February 6–22, 2016, two confirmed
and four probable cases of Zika virus sexual transmission were reported to CDC
by health officials from multiple states.
Preventing
Transmission of Zika Virus in Labor and Delivery Settings Through
Implementation of Standard Precautions — United States, 2016 Although there are no reports of transmission of Zika virus from infected
patients to health care personnel or other patients, minimizing exposures to
body fluids is important.

Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain — United States, 2016
This guideline provides recommendations for primary care providers
who are prescribing opioids for chronic pain outside of active cancer
treatment, palliative care, and end-of-life care. Vital Signs: Preventing Antibiotic-Resistant Infections in Hospitals — United States, 2014 For this Vital Signs report, CDC assessed HAIs, including Clostridium difficile infections, and the role of six antibiotic-resistant bacteria of highest concern nationwide in various types of health care facilities.

Marriage, Childbearing, and Sexual Behavior: United States, 2002, 2006–2010,
and 2011–2013 From 2002 to 2011–2013, there was an
increase in the percentages of men and women who agreed with premarital
cohabitation, nonmarital childbearing, the right for gay and lesbian adults to
adopt children, same-sex sexual relations, and premarital sex for those aged
18.

Vital Statistics System, United States, 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2014 Females born in 2014 can expect to live
4.8 years longer than males born in the same year. This difference in life
expectancy between females and males has not changed since 2010, but decreased
from 5.4 years in 2000 and 7.0 years in 1990.
Increase
in Reported Prevalence of Microcephaly in Infants Born to Women Living in Areas
with Confirmed Zika Virus Transmission During the First Trimester of Pregnancy
— Brazil, 2015 By January 2016, a total of 3,530 suspected microcephaly cases had been
reported, many of which occurred in infants born to women who lived in or had
visited areas where Zika virus transmission was occurring, suggesting a
relationship between these two epidemiologic events.

Report to the Nation: Cancer Death Rates Continue to Decline The Report to the Nation on the Status of Cancer (1975-2012)
shows that death rates continued to decline for all cancers combined, as well
as for most cancer sites for men and women of all major racial and ethnic
populations.

2012 In 2012, 49 visits per 1,000 persons aged 20 and over were made
to physician offices in the United States for obesity. Women had a
significantly higher obesity visit rate (60 visits per 1,000) than men (37

The Know Hepatitis B campaign represents the first national multi-lingual communications campaign on hepatitis B among Asian Americans. preventable medical conditions caused by blood clots that form in a vein. It is
important to know about DVT because it can happen to anyone at any age and can
cause serious illness, disability, and in some cases, death.
