National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month

Dr. Wanda Barfield

May is Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, and CDC recently released a Vital Signs report, “Preventing Teen Pregnancy: A Key Role for Health Care Providers.” The report discusses long-acting reversible contraception and the important role health care providers can play in teen pregnancy prevention. While rates of births to teens continue to decline, in 2013, teens ages 15 to 19 delivered more than 273,000 infants. This is still of great concern to all of us. This Vital Signs report was created to help the nation’s communities continue the dialogue about teen pregnancy and its burden on our nation’s youth.

Please read the recent blog post from Dr. Wanda Barfield talking further about this issue.
