Weekly Influenza Surveillance
Flu activity is low across the United States, but influenza viruses circulate year-round and flu outbreaks can occur during the summer months. CDC recommends flu vaccination to prevent influenza and antiviral drugs for treatment, for high risk people especially. All 2013-2014 flu vaccine will expire by the end of June. Vaccine for next season is expected to be available beginning late summer.
The CDC Influenza Division International Program works with a wide range of international partners, including the World Health Organization, National Ministries of Health and others to build capacity to respond to pandemic influenza and to prevent and control seasonal influenza.
