Learn about a 13-minute DVD that promotes the completion of the 3-dose HPV vaccine series that prevents most types of cervical cancer.

CDC Seeks Former Smokers for National Ad Campaign - Apply by Oct. 21, 2013
CDC is recruiting individuals to feature in its national tobacco education campaign. It will feature real people from all population groups, including women. They are also looking for WOMEN who are ex-smokers: who have suffered from a heart attack due to smoking (ages 40-60); who have had lung cancer that was caused by smoking (ages 40-60); or who smoked during their pregnancy and had a baby born with a cleft lip, cleft palate or low birth weight (less than 5 pounds, 8 ounces).

AMIGAS Outreach Intervention
AMIGAS is a bilingual educational outreach intervention designed to help promotoras (community health workers) and other lay health educators increase cervical cancer screening among Hispanics who have rarely or never had a Pap test. CDC funded a recent randomized controlled trial that showed AMIGAS is effective in promoting cervical cancer screening (Pap tests) among Hispanics aged 21 to 65 years.

Total Body Bone Area, Bone Mineral Content, and Bone Mineral Density for Individuals Aged 8 Years and Over: United States, 1999-2006
Smoothed mean total body BMD increased until early adulthood and then remained relatively stable in males and females in the three racial and ethnic groups examined until approximately age 50, after which it declined with age in both sexes in the three groups.

On-Line Course Trains Nurses on Preventing Workplace Violence
A new free on-line course aims to train nurses on recognizing and preventing workplace violence. The multi-media training incorporates lesson text, videos depicting workplace violence incidents, testimonials from real nurses, and lesson quizzes.

Infertility and Impaired Fecundity in the United States, 1982-2010: Data from the National Survey of Family Growth
The percentage of married women aged 15-44 who were infertile fell from 8.5% in 1982 (2.4 million women) to 6.0% (1.5 million) in 2006-2010. Among all women, 11% had impaired fecundity in 2006-2010. Both infertility and impaired fecundity remain closely associated with age for nulliparous women.
