Healthcare Providers Remember to Report to VAERS This Flu Season

It’s influenza season again and you will likely be encouraging your patients to get the flu vaccine.  If your patients experience an adverse event following immunization, please report this information to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).

A new video on an “Overview of VAERS” is now available on “CDC Streaming Health” that gives more information on who can report and how. This video is also designed to give health care professionals understanding of how rare adverse events following immunization can be detected through vaccine safety monitoring.

For more information on the 2012-2013 flu season, visit www.cdc.gov/flu. For more information on flu vaccine safety and monitoring, see www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/vaccine/vaccinesafety.htm.
