If you missed the CDC Public Health Grand Rounds, entitled “The Growing Threat of Multidrug-Resistant Gonorrhea,” on May 15, you can now view the recording of the webinar.
This session of Grand Rounds explored the development of antibiotic resistance in Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Through the course of history, gonorrhea has progressively developed resistance to the drugs prescribed to treat it. This is a public health concern because the gonorrhea control strategy in the United States relies on effective antibiotic therapy. Given the ability of the gonorrhea bacterium to develop antibiotic resistance, it is critical to continuously monitor gonococcal antibiotic resistance and encourage research and development of new treatment regimens for gonorrhea.
