Update to CDC's U.S. Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use, 2010: Revised Recommendations for the Use of Contraceptive Methods During the Postpartum Period
These updated recommendations state that postpartum women should not use combined hormonal contraceptives during the first 21 days after delivery because of the high risk for venous thromboembolism during this period.
HPV Infection Remains Common among Women in the United States, CDC Study Confirms
CDC researchers published two analyses looking at the prevalence of HPV among women in the United States.

Descriptive statistics are presented on births occurring in 2008 to residents of the 27 states that implemented the revised birth certificate.
Death in the United States, 2009
Many of the increases in life expectancy are attributed to reductions in the rates of death from the major causes of death, namely heart disease, cancer, stroke, and chronic lower respiratory diseases. Life expectancy at birth reached a record high of 78.2 years. White females had the longest life expectancy (80.9 years), followed by black females (77.4 years).

Infant Mortality Statistics from the 2007 Period Linked Birth/Infant Death Data Set (pdf)
The overall 2007 infant mortality rate from the linked file was 6.75 infant deaths per 1,000 live births, not significantly different from the rate of 6.68 in 2006. The highest rate, 13.31 per 1,000 live births, was for infants of non-Hispanic black mothers, nearly 3 times greater than the lowest rate of 4.57 for infants of Central and South American mothers.

Among adults aged 18 and over, women were more likely than men to have used the Internet for health information.

This report indicates a worsening problem in Florida with overdoses involving prescription drugs, especially oxycodone and alprazolam, and a recent sharp decline in cocaine-related deaths.
Vital Signs: Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening, Incidence, and Mortality - United States, 2002-2010
Approximately 50% of the improvement in mortality can be attributed to increased screening, with 35% attributed to reductions in risk factors such as smoking and obesity, and 12% to improved CRC treatment.
