Dear Colleague,
The MMWR of the 2010 STD Treatment Guidelines published electronically on December 17, 2010 contains incorrect dosage information. MMWR will issue an erratum this week. Three significant corrections pertain to the recommended regimens for gonococcal infections, which include gonococcal dual therapy, and the alternative regimens for bacterial vaginosis. The corrected dosages are highlighted in the three regimen boxes below:
Uncomplicated Gonococcal Infections of the Cervix, Urethra, and Rectum
Recommended Regimens |
Ceftriaxone 250 mg IM in a single dose OR, IF NOT AN OPTION Cefixime 400 mg orally in a single dose OR Single-dose injectible cephalosporin regimens PLUS Azithromycin 1g orally in a single dose OR Doxycycline 100 mg orally twice a day for 7 days |
Recommended Regimens |
Ceftriaxone 250 mg IM in a single dose PLUS Azithromycin 1g orally in a single dose OR Doxycycline 100 mg orally twice a day for 7 days |

Tinidazole 2 g orally once daily for 2 days OR Tinidazole 1 g orally once daily for 5 days OR Clindamycin 300 mg orally twice daily for 7 days OR Clindamycin ovules 100 mg intravaginally once at bedtime for 3 days |
