Heart Month ~ February is American Heart Month. About every 25 seconds, an American will have a coronary event. Learn more about coronary heart disease, which often appears as a heart attack and is the most common heart disease in the U.S.

Salmonella ~ CDC is collaborating with public health officials in many states and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate a multistate outbreak of human infections due to Salmonella serotype Typhimurium. The investigation is ongoing, and exposures to peanut butter and other peanut-containing products are being examined.

Blacks & HIV/AIDS ~ February 7, 2009 marks the ninth annual National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD). This is a national community mobilization, HIV testing, and treatment initiative, which promotes awareness of, and access to, services for African Americans. The theme for NBHAAD 2009 is "Black Life is Worth Saving."

Wear Red ~ Wear red the first Friday of February each year to help raise awareness about heart disease. Being healthy is your best accessory!

Rubella Protection ~ Rubella can cause serious health problems for children. The best way to protect them is to stop the spread of the disease. That means vaccinating young children with MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine. Women who are susceptible to rubella and might become pregnant should also get vaccinated.
