-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 _______________________________________________________________________ Mandriva Linux Security Advisory MDVSA-2013:169 http://www.mandriva.com/en/support/security/ _______________________________________________________________________ Package : socat Date : May 29, 2013 Affected: Enterprise Server 5.0 _______________________________________________________________________ Problem Description: Multiple vulnerabilities has been discovered and corrected in socat: A heap based buffer overflow vulnerability has been found with data that happens to be output on the READLINE address. Successful exploitation may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the socat process (CVE-2012-0219). Under certain circumstances an FD leak occurs and can be misused for denial of service attacks against socat running in server mode (CVE-2013-3571). The updated packages have been patched to correct these issues. _______________________________________________________________________ References: http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2012-0219 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2013-3571 http://www.dest-unreach.org/socat/contrib/socat-secadv3.html http://www.dest-unreach.org/socat/contrib/socat-secadv4.html _______________________________________________________________________ Updated Packages: Mandriva Enterprise Server 5: 858847746044d4a209599693d9f80f62 mes5/i586/socat-1.6.0.0-4.2mdvmes5.2.i586.rpm 9cf3c6dc4dc0d39db91b9c8ef53abab0 mes5/SRPMS/socat-1.6.0.0-4.2mdvmes5.2.src.rpm Mandriva Enterprise Server 5/X86_64: d7b31e75575a4af13e77889e3228f74d mes5/x86_64/socat-1.6.0.0-4.2mdvmes5.2.x86_64.rpm 9cf3c6dc4dc0d39db91b9c8ef53abab0 mes5/SRPMS/socat-1.6.0.0-4.2mdvmes5.2.src.rpm _______________________________________________________________________ To upgrade automatically use MandrivaUpdate or urpmi.
