Prior versions may also be affected. ====================================================================== 2) Severity Rating: Highly Critical Impact: System access Where: Remote ====================================================================== 3) Description of Vulnerability Secunia Research has discovered a vulnerability in AVIRA Desktop for Windows antivirus, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system. The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when reading the filename of a compressed file from an ACE archive. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow when an ACE archive containing a compressed file with an overly long filename is scanned. Successful exploitation allows arbitrary code execution, but requires that archive scanning is enabled.
