Picture of the Week

A view of a large, sculpted marble arch, looks out into a dark cemetery lit by individual candles. A small white house is in the distance.

Our social media Picture of the Week is the Antietam National Battlefield in Maryland. Antietam will always be remembered as a turning point in the Civil War, the battle that made possible President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. It's among the 21,000 acres of battlefields and cultural sites that have been preserved with help from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
