For 25 years, the Redding Field Office, California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Shasta County Sportsman's Assocation have partnered to provide a hunting opportunity for youth and women to experience America’s Great Outdoors. Each year, the Annual Pheasant Hunt takes place at the Sacramento River Bend Outstanding Natural Area. Hunters are able to learn safe hunting techniques while enjoying traditional pheasant hunting. The construction will include removing the existing timber bridges and constructing new timber bridges. These orders deliver on promises made by both President Donald J. Trump and Secretary Zinke to expand access to America’s public lands. On a remote atoll in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the world’s oldest known, banded bird just became a mother again. Last December, volunteers and staff at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge and Memorial documented that Wisdom, a Laysan albatross at least 66 years old, had returned to the atoll and was incubating an egg with her mate. The tours, led by volunteer naturalists, are free and open to the public. There is a limit of 25 participants per plant tour and 20 participants for the bird tour. Each plant tour will focus on the diverse and rare plants growing within the chaparral and oak woodland ecosystems. The public is encouraged to visit the center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. A grand reopening celebration will take place on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22.
