Hi Chime,
I am about to illustrate how little I understand about Linux smiley face.
Exactly why would a voice be too large for use?
In fact, let me go back and actually take note of how this voice was created for Dos, using an open source dos screen reader called provox which I may have just misspelled. Fully realizing many factors might impact this when in another environment,t he speech is profoundly good. I would personally need the kind of screen reader with actual configuration options, changing pitch for example, those sorts of things.
Thanks Chime,
Karen

Hi Karen: Well, I think it was Storm of Fenrir who told my Linux expert-and-myself about it. However, the best quality voice was somehow too large, so we chose another one. Also, I traded mail with Mike who seems to maintain Piper tts, he may not be as aware about screen-readers as we are. So, unless I am wrong, we might need drivers for Speakup. I would love to try it. Hopefully you will receive many more comments-and-suggestions. Thanks for bringing this up
Chime
