Not only that, what's a new windows user to do if they don't already have
an email address?

Believe it or not, I actually found an answer to that one. You just tell the horribly bloated and cumbersome installer that you don't have an internet connection. But you still have to untick all the checkboxes about turning on the voice assistent and sharing your name, your address, your date of birth, your gender, your mother's maiden name, your location, your blood type, your first-born, etc etc etc, and because you don't have a connection to the internet, you have to cus it out to let it know that you mean business, you don't want their damn Microsoft account ... just to use your computer. The problem is that it is said that it will keep bugging you about it even after you get through that installer. It will however let you get an email if you don't already have one, and of course they recommend their own.
