Thank you Didier,  I have looked over the website and downloaded lots of reading material.  To make a portable copy is what I will try to do.  A bit more reading before I can get started.

Hi Howard,

What you can do is install Slint on a removable drive, like an USB attached SSD
or hard drive.

After installation you will be able to start Slint or Windows, which will stay
untouched.

All you need to know is in https://slint.fr/doc/HandBook.html including how to
get support. The Slint mailing list is a very friendly one.

When asked at the beginning of installation just choose the "auto" installation
mode.

Cheers,
Didier

Hello all,

I've been wanting to try out linux but haven't wanted to give up or mess up any
of my working windows systems.  Would it be possible to install some version of
linux on a CD or a DVD; then just boot a computer from that disk bypassing
windows altogether?  If so, I'd have to make it either talk or drive a Braille
display.

Wonder if anyone would have any suggestions?  Thank you.

Howard
