Tim here again. If you're running in just a raw console, I'm not aware of anything that can do it straight up. But if you run tmux within that console (which I do recommend), you can create a hook in your ~/.tmux.conf that will execute an arbitrary command when tmux intercepts the bell/beep. Here I use aplay(1) to play one of the standard sound-icons on my machine: set-hook -g alert-bell "run-shell '/usr/bin/aplay /usr/share/sounds/sound-icons/glass-water-1.wav'" You should be able to adjust it to play an MP3, OGG, or whatever.
