Is your braille display supported. If it's a USB device, it's usually
detected, if it's serial you usually have to specify port and driver in my
experience.
If they use an outdated version of brltty, which they sometimes do, it
might be that you have to compile the latest version yourself.
If you had braille support during installation you might have luck running
the rescue mode and recompiling brltty with a chroot to the running
system.
