system universal access then make sure magnifier is checked in that
screen. If not checked you'll not have told the system you need it.

Hi,
I managed to install slint without trouble. Now I can access Mate Desktop.
I hope someone could help me to enable magnifier. I tried enter keyboard
shortcut menu and press the key listed there to toggle screen magnifier
(Ctrl+Suprt+N) but nothing happened.
Thanks

No, it isn't like debian.? When you run a boot up of slint, slint comes up
talking.? You press s once speech starts to continue to have slint
speaking.? Failure to press s turns speech off.? I've done testing on
release candidate versions of slint before this one got released and I've
never seen anything in my life and I had no trouble getting slint
installed so I could use it afterwards.

Hi,
I read the manual and can't find info on how to use it with
speakup/espeak. Could you pinpoint me on how to enable speech during
installation? I think this should be possible just like with debian
installer.

?Slint64-14.2.1 is released!
?As a reminder Slint is a Linux distribution based on Slackware.
?INSTALLATION
?The ISO image for Slint64-14.2.1 is provided on sourceforge.net:
?To know how to use this ISO image, read:
?Just substitute this ISO's file name to the one indicated there.
?Specific instructions for visually impaired users are provided in:
?Slint can be installed and used without help from a sighted person,
?provided that the computer be set to boot from the installation media,
?DVD or USB stick.
?To update your system after installation, run as as root these
commands:
?slapt-get --add-keys
?slapt-get --update
?slapt-get --upgrade -s # to check for available updates.
?slapt-get --upgrade # to actually apply the updates.
?FEATURES
?MATE 1.18 is included, as well as Xfce, LXDE and KDE (optional) and
?lighter ones like blackbox and fluxbox.
?Slint64-4.2 is accessible to visually impaired users: it can be
?installed and used with speech and/or Braille both in text mode and in
?several graphical environments including of course MATE.
?brltty is included with brlapi to use your braille device in graphical
?environments through orca.
?espeakup provides speech in text mode, orca in graphical environments.
?The installation of KDE is optional. If KDE is installed, to avoid
?cluttering the application menus of other graphical environments the
?admin can just type hide-kde-apps: the menu entry of KDE apps will
?then appear only in the menu entry of KDE. This can be reverted typing
?show-kde-apps.
?The lightdm and gdm2 graphical login managers are included, both can
?speak with orca.
?To cope with the many graphical environments and login managers and
?alleviate the need of manually editing configuration files, several new
?utilities are provided:
?* orca-on ad orca-off allow each user to enable or disable speech
and/or
??? braille in graphical environments for oneself.
?* session-chooser allows a user to set the default graphical session
for
??? oneself, among those available. This can be done by root for a
regular
??? user with setsession.
?* login-chooser allows the admin to set the login manager, either text
??? (the users can then after login start a graphical session typing
??? startx) or graphical (among lightdm, lxdm, gdm and kdm) and decide
to
??? have speech or not for login, in text mode as using lightdm or gdm2.
?Most graphical environments get a similar layout of the panels and
?their menus.
?ACCESSIBILITY
?See the document ACCESSIBILITY:
?INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPGRADING FROM 14.2
?Follow the instructions detailed in the document README_UPGRADE
?in the directory upgrade:
?These instructions also apply to testers of a release candidate.
?Note that upgrading from a Slint version earlier than 14.2 is NOT
?supported at all and will most likely not work.
?Alternatively make a full backup, install anew, restore from the
backup.
