You shouldn't enable speakup as it causes troubles.
Best regards.

Hi!
I use Debian Stretch here with mate desktop.
Maybe i’ve didn’t install things correctly but when i am prompted for login i hear the speech asking me to enter my name and password.
When i am logged in i don’t hear any speech or any sound at all.
I have gone through all settings in regards to sound and everything seems to be set as it should.
I use a built-in realtech soundcard and i am not sure if this is the problem or if there is no drivers installed for this card or what.
Any hints on what to do?
Thanks.
Hello,
Could you try the command speaker-test from command-line to check if the sound work?
How do you have running the Debian installer ? Do you have speakup launched at startup?
Best regards.
