Probably the best thing to do before you hit the delete key is to verify
your selection. The space bar will play your selected audio, and then if
you need to extend it to the left, you can use shift+left arrow, or use
shift+right arrow to extend it to the right. If you need to shorten the
selection from its right boundary, use shift+control+left arrow, and if
you need to shorten it from its left boundary, control+shift+right arrow
will do that. Always verify you have the right part of the file selected
before you press the delete key. But never fear if you do make a
mistake, as you have virtually unlimited undo capabilities.
