Hi John,
As far as I know, there is nothing under Linux that would quite do the trick, but I think that google has a service which one can call over the web to do speech recognition.
That might be something to investigate.

Is there sofrware for Linux that can accept dictation? I have a sound card that I think is adequate. I'm using
command-line Debian, but I can install a desktop environment to be loaded when needed.

A dictation program could be very useful to me, since I am deaf-blind and a lot of people are very slow typists.

Thanks,
John
