And what setting function indicates this output?
What I would do of course is inform our administrator that when changing our structure to Ubuntu, something went wrong. Lets us confirm if the issue does not lie with the specific site in question.

Well, the output of your existing "elinks --version" should tell you
whether the version that you have installed includes JavaScript
support.  If it does, then yay.  If it doesn't then you'd have to
decide what to do from there.
