Hi Anders,

Probably by "damaged" you mean "corrupted" e.g. so Windows
doesn't boot up. In this case, dd *can* make a backup copy. If you want
Windows to boot, you can install a bootloader such as Grub,
or you may be able to restore the MBR by starting Windows
from a rescue disk.
