perfectly able to connect to the wifi network here. I figure I ought to
come pretty close by using values in the configuration screen of the wifi
network in my /etc/network/interfaces file where those will be applicable.
If you have a phone thattalks to your wifi network, you may want to try

Subject: Wifi is driving me crazy!
Okay, it wouldn't be a long drive - lol!
I know this list is more for accessibility or so it seems to me so I hope it's okay to post this. I have been trying to get wifi to work on two old mac minis, one a ppc and one an intel, for a good week! One has a b4306 revision 3 chip and the other has a Qualcomm Atheros AR242x / Ar542X (that one should be the easiest one). I can successfully use iwlist with both of them to scan and wlan0 does show all the wireless networks around. I have tried all the methods I could find on the Internet for using wpasupplicant (which I am beginning to hate with a passion!) and I am sure I have the information correctly in /etc/network/interfaces also. It isn't as if I haven't done wifi setup before but admittedly it has been a while since i had to do this and these are both old computers. Most of what I find in google is for people who are getting no response, not even scanning, or from people who got the configuration wrong in /etc/network/interfaces. ght be missing here? On the Atheros one, which should use the ath5k, the ath5k does appear to be loaded and an attempt to connect is made at boot with no dhcpoffers found. I'm not sure the b43 is even doing that though I did use the right installer for it as far as I know. I actually have both an at&t wireless (due to a promotional) and a charter network. Charter's is hooked up to my Airport Extreme and the other modem has a built-in router. Both of these networks work fine on ethernet and connect by wifi with no problem to my Mac and my i-devices. If anybody can think of something else I should try I would really appreciate it. I am writing this in a hurry on a Sunday morning while getting ready for church so I apologize if i'm leaving out relevant information that would help.
