Well, if zsh is indeed the cause, although this seems unlikely, setting
setopt singlelinezle
may fix it, although I can't see how the shell's line editor has any
effect on the console as a whole once control is transferred to another
process such as Nano. It is worth a shot, but the people who have
indicated in the TalkingArch IRC that they are seeing this problem are
generally running Bash.
