It works well enough as of Gnome 3.4 and later that you can invoke
applications from it and switch between them, then log out at the end of the
session. the later the version of Gnome, the better the accessibility of
Gnome-Shell, as it is the subject of ongoing accessibility work.

The logout dialogue isn't accessible as of 3.4, but I think this is fixed in
subsequent releases. Following the Debian release, unstable should get Gnome
3.8, which will (according to blog posts) require you to run systemd rather
than System V Init.
