Whichever distribution you prefer for other reasons should be fine. As always,
it's a trade-off between various factors such as stability and reliability vs.
frequency of updates to the latest releases of packages, the extent to which
decisions are made by default upon installation and whether you like those
decisions, the comprehensiveness of the package repository, etc.

My only recommendation is to install Clang for C or C++ development in
addition to Gcc. The error messages in Clang are excellent and it can also
perform code analysis to detect bugs that might otherwise escape notice.
