A few years ago I destroyed piece by piece nearly a half-pack of CDs because
of bad burns of Fedora. Then I read on the Fedora list that there was some
subtlety in the way you had to burn it in order to get the checksums or
whatever it was to come out right. But it had nothing to do with whether the
disks would work. Since then I've had a healthy distrust of those checks. I
think I'd try the disk regardless of whether the test passes or not.
