I assume that in the context of this mailing list you need to recover
data from an NTFS partition accessible from a Linux system.

If read-only access is sufficient, then just about any reasonably modern
Linux distribution should be able to mount and access NTFS partitions
without a problem.

If read-write access if somehow required, then my painful experience is
that it is well-advised to use the FUSE-NTFS-3G package set (that is,
NTFS-3G running from the FUSE user-space mounter).

Or, do you need to access NTFS partitions that aren't accessible to
your Linux system?
