bad rsync ubuntu download

After running md5sum -c lucid-desktop-i386.iso on the local file I got 61 
files that are unreadable and apparently failed to download.  I have tried 
several combinations of command line options for rsync with no 
improvement.  This in my mind points at a program that isn't reliable in 
terms of download capability any longer.
